Born and raised on a farm in northern Wisconsin, I have always had an interest in nature and being outdoors. My earliest memories involving photography include the use of a Kodak Instamatic 110 camera and capturing family adventures with a Bell and Howell Super 8 movie camera. Immediately after high school, I found myself working at Yellowstone National Park, surrounded by all the natural wonders our nation’s first national park had to offer. At the same time, I was introduced to 35mm photography which opened a new world to a young photographer whose feet were just getting wet in the world of travel photography.
Many years and miles have passed under these feet since my Yellowstone days, but my desire to travel and interest in photography continued to grow over the years and both are an important part of who I am today. I was blessed to meet and marry my wife, Lori, who shares the same gusto for life and interest in seeing what adventures lurk around the next bend. Lori not only shares my interests but has become a skilled photographer in her own right and encourages me to see things from a different perspective as we continue to grow as photographers. In addition, I would be remiss if I failed to acknowledge the important role which Randy Hanna (Randy Hanna Photography) has played in my growth as a photographer. In addition to being a close friend and travel partner for many years, Randy continues to be a valued mentor to me and others as we strive to improve our photographic skills. His love of travel and photography is contagious, and Randy enthusiastically shares the world of travel photography with others. Many thanks my friend!
Finally, this website was developed to share some of my life experiences with others through photographs and the stories that often accompany them. My objective is to share, inspire, and to bring a smile to the face of those who visit this site. My greatest aspiration is to inspire others to hitch their souls to a wandering star, to spread their wings, and to explore and experience places they may otherwise have never considered possible.
